Our History

Encompass Credit Union was formerly known as Transrail Credit Union and changed it's name on 15 December 1997 to Encompass Credit Union Limited. Encompass is a member-owned co-operative serving the needs of its members and their families. It has been operating since 1953 providing service to its members and offering a wide range of financial services including savings accounts, lending products and insurance.

Encompass Credit Union believes in:

  • Strong membership support in both the city and the country
  • Prudential standards above the industry average and statutory requirements
  • Belief in providing services to meet the members' demands
  • Management and staff that put the pursuit of excellence in service to members as its first and continous priority

These qualities are reflected in our history and background:

  • Both organisations were started by a few people with tremendous tenacity and the desire to assist their fellow workmates achieve financial independence
  • Both had the same goal, to meet the needs of the total workforce of each organisation
  • Both had a vision to ensure that the dignity of each member was upheld in the provision of financial services
